Seeds are the source of life.
A seed is a mystery, it is both a beginning and an end, life and death, nothing and everything. A seed sits easily in the palm of the hand, and it had the potential to grow into a huge living structure. It is a single grain and it can be the source of a thousand grains. It can be stored for many years, yet can be stirred to life in days. A seed is a whole universe in a grain a sand.
In many cultures it has illustrated the spiritual journey of our lives and the moving from one season to another. If the species must survive, then its seed has to change. It must lose its identity in order to become a new plant.
The harvest grain represented both a source of food in the coming winter months, but also the promise of hope for the spring.
